Romana Ercegovic - "Prayer to the Earth" - March 2005
Ms. Ercegovic wrote and performed this original poetry from her "Prayer to the Earth" performance from 2000. Improvised instrumental and vocal accompaniments were performed in a second live take. A collection of nine pieces were recorded at AVS in a weekend in July of 2004. Post prodution was performed some time later. Ms. Ercegovic gave AVS total creative control for production. We took the best elements of the accompaniments and wove them together with the poetry and some other effects.

About the work...

A Prayer to the Earth speaks about a woman who is seeking to find the lost meaning of her life. At an isolated place in nature, she turns to the spirit of the Earth and makes a ritual to ask for a vision. After she goes through a process of personal transformation, a rebirth, she finds the connection with her inner-self and she can feel the sacredness of life, nature, herself and people around her. A Prayer to the Earth is an universal story of human's longing for home, into the shelter of the soul, where she/he can feel loved and become able to love.

About the artist...
