Authentic Voices can be as involved in your project as you like, from simple recording and production of your work to full creative collaboration. With some cients, my relationship has evolved from "producer" to "collaborator". In other cases, I have done straight technical work on an hourly basis. Every project and every client has different needs -- we will find what works for you.

At the basic level, AVS can provide professional-quality (24bit, 48kHz), digital master recording of your work. I will record your performance from the sound booth directly into the computer. Then I edit the material under your direction until we have a product that represents your best performance. Finally, I create a master CD for you that is ready for mass duplication. This master CD will contain your final work, complete with fades and track-to-track pauses, in the proper playing order, at the right volume, etc. I can also produce high quality MP3 files for you.

If you have material already recorded that you simply want mastered and/or edited, I can certainly do that for you, too. Be advised that your results may not be as good as if I recorded you, since I had no control over the original recording environment.

Even when I are doing straight technical work for you (i.e., not officially collaborating), I am still paying close attention to the feeling and energy of your creation. If I find something that I feel would improve your production in any way, I'll be sure to let you know.

Collaboration Possibilities

As creative people ourselves, there is so much more that we can do for you beyond technical production services. Sometimes our clients don't quite know exactly what kind of product they want but they know they have the seeds of something wonderful inside them. We can work together to refine your vision into something real. In one collaboration, the client left AVS after a two-day recording session and gave me total creative license to weave the most beautiful tapestry I could from the raw material created. She didn't quite know what she wanted, but she knew I understood the spirit and energy of her work and trusted me to bring out its beauty. Not only did AV edit and engineer the material, I even created and performed additional tracks long after the original session which were then integrated into the finished product. The client was thrilled with the results.

How and whether we might collaborate depends on how we relate and our comparative working styles. I may not be compatible as deeply involved collaborators with all clients -- there has to be a certain chemistry. When it's there, the results can be stunning.

The Fine Print

Authentic Voices is able to keep its costs down by using private space for recording rather than owning or leasing a commercial location. This affords us a comfortable and quiet setting to do our work together, but it does have its limits.
